Immigration Physicals

It is required for all those seeking a visa to undergo a medical exam. This rule applies to some non-immigrant visas as well as for refugees and adjustment of status applicants. Immigration physicals are very similar to routine examinations, but the main purpose is to ensure that the patient has no serious medical concerns that require immediate attention before migrating.

General examination

  • Physical examination
  • HIV testing
  • Syphilis testing
  • QuantiFERON test for tuberculosis
  • A chest X-ray may also be required.
  • Immunizations based on the person’s age and medical history

Physical exam process

During an immigration physical exam process, the doctor will examine a patient for physical and mental health conditions. The doctor may determine a patient needs additional testing due to conditions found during the medical exam, they may be sent to the local public health department for more tests and treatment. At Westchester Health Center, we take the time to listen, to find the answers and to provide our patients with the best care.
